Keyword consistency

Keyword Consistency - keyword alignment in on-page optimization

📖 Detailed description

Keyword Consistency is a metric that measures whether your most important key phrases appear in strategic places across the page: in the Title, the Description, and the headings (H1-H6).

Google's algorithms analyze these elements to determine a page's topic and its relevance to specific queries. A lack of consistency can weaken your ranking signals and make it harder to achieve top positions.

Remember to place keywords naturally (avoid keyword stuffing) and to use grammatical variations, which Google understands perfectly well.

Most common problems

Keywords only in the body text

Google may not recognize them as the main topic

Different phrases in the Title and H1

It confuses the user

No keywords in the description

A lower chance of being clicked in the results

Over-optimization

Forcing keywords in everywhere

How to fix it?

Choose a primary keyword for the page

Place it at the start of the Title

Weave it naturally into the Description

Use it in the main heading (H1)

Use grammatical variations - Google understands them

Examples

Good example

Title: "Winter tyres...", H1: "Winter tyres - clearance sale"

Bad example

Title: "Home page", H1: "Welcome to our store"
