Domain age and WHOIS data

Domain age is the time that has passed since a domain was first registered. In SEO there is a myth that "an older domain = a higher ranking". Google has repeatedly denied that age alone is a meaningful ranking factor - what matters is history, credibility, and continuity of operation, not the date on paper.

So why do older domains often perform better? Because over the years they have had time to earn links, build trust, and accumulate a history of valuable content. That is the effect of time spent working, not of the metric itself. A freshly registered domain is not "penalized" - it simply has to earn its reputation first.

WHOIS data is the public register of information about a domain: registration date, expiration date, registrar, and status. It is worth knowing for a very practical reason: a missed expiration date means the domain disappears, the site goes down, and your Google rankings vanish.
